We have blocked a set of rooms at the University Inn at Moscow for the nights of July 18 and July 19 in the event you desire to stay their during the District Tournament that will be held in Pullman.  These rooms will be held till July 1, 2010 so I suggest that if you think you will want to stay there for the district event that you go ahead and make reservations now in order to hold the rooms.  The toll free number is 1-800-325-8765 and ask for the WJGA Golf Tournament.

Parents of 8 to 13 year old golfers,

As you know, we have parents as walking scorers for all of the 8-11 and 12-13 age divisions.  This is done to assist the juniors in making sure their scores are accurate.  They are required to keep their own scores as well.  Here are some items you should be aware of:

  1. Cyndi Kelly has volunteered to organize all of the walking scorers.  She will be in contact with you to arrange the times that you will be walking.  She can be reached at 509/290-1671 during the season.  Additionally, you can email her at cyndijkelly@yahoo.com or TEXT her with your response.   It is critical that you respond to the walking scorer request as soon as possible.

  1. As a parent you are required to walk twice during the season.  If you have taken specific days off from work to score, please call Cyndi with that information to ensure she assigns you for those days.

  1. You will not be walking in the group with your child.

  1. Cyndi will be calling you prior to each tournament so you will be aware of when you are being expected to walk.  I ask that you extend her every courtesy for it is a difficult job to coordinate all of the walking scorers.

  1. If for any reason you find that you cannot make it to the tournament, please call Cyndi directly to let her know so she can make other arrangements. Please do not wait until the night before as it is difficult to replace scorers.

As director, I personally ask everyone to do their share of the walking.  It will allow the other parents to have an opportunity to watch their children play in the events.  Thank you again on behalf of all of us.

News from your directors;

Dear Players and Parents,

We are looking forward to another great summer of tournament golf!  In order for this to happen, we need your assistance.

Everyone needs to become familiar with the newly designed website.  As always, the rules and responsibilities for both players and parents can be found there, along with any current changes in WJGA policies.  Please be sure to read the spectator rules, dress code, and tournament withdrawal information.  This website was designed specifically with you in mind and should be an invaluable resource.

One important website posting will be your tee times. In District 5, you may check for it at least 48 hours in advance of each tournament.

We frequently are asked what tees the various age groups will play.  Generally speaking, these are the tees that we will use:

            Boys 14-17 Blue

            Boys 12-13 White

            Girls 14-17 White

            Girls 12-13 Red

            Boys and Girls 8-11 Red

FYI.  For those of you in the 8-13 age groups, Cyndi Kelly will be contacting you to assist as a walking scorer for tournaments.  Parents with players in these age groups are required to walk twice. If you are not familiar with Cyndi, just ask anyone for the cookie lady.

Sincerely,

Allen and Karen Hatley
